Mason Jar Cafe in Newland

The food was okay, but not as described on the menu. The Fried Chicken Breast were the same chicken tenders my daughter received just covered in gravy. They tasted fine but I wanted an actual chicken breast. Also my daughters kids meal only had 2 very small tenders I had to share my food with her because there wasnt enough on the plate for her. The high prices I really expected more food on the plate and better quality. The service and environment was great. However for the money we paid we could have went somewhere nicer for better quality food. Also I have seen reviews talking about staff "yelling at each other" I heard very loud noises from someone in the kitchen it sounded like, it was distracting. Not sure they were yelling but would have enjoyed not hearing it.

Such great service and food is absolutely fantastic. Second time I've ever came here and it was just as great!

We do lunch at Mason Jar frequently, and LOVE it! Maria and Gary are terrific, and have created a fun and delicious atmosphere! My fav is the shepherd's pie!

Very neat little restaurant in the cool little town of Newland. We were on a cycling trip and stopped in for lunch. We had a very nice waitress (Ashley) who was helpful. The food was very good and reasonably priced. We sat outside and enjoyed the 70 degree weather!

The food was not bad but it was not great. You can tell that they are taking a page from Sandra Lee's Almost Homemade cookbook, as you can tell that most of their products are frozen or from a pre-mix. The mashed potatoes were the best thing about this restaurant but I am not going to go back just for mashed potatoes. The service was meh and the gentleman whom I will assume is the manager was very rude. The kitchen staff is noisy and very mean. You can hear them yelling from the back.That is not the kind of atmosphere I want to eat in. When the owner comes out she is load and likes to toss some colorful language around. I did not find this delightful and will not be returning. I would highly suggest they learn to cook on a higher level at their prices and that they learn how to present themselves to customers.

Went on a busy day, the wait was very long and the food was okay but the staff was friendly. Homestyle food at decent prices.

Great homemade stood!!!! I had the chicken tenders & it was real chicken breast & hand breaded with their special breading....They were so juicy & incredible.....Mashed potatoes were delicious....Had skins in them.....Will be back!!!

This place needs to close it's doors the owners or managers curse repeatedly my food was good but they didn't even know who was doing what. The waiter I had said his whole family works there. Maybe that's the problem they can't work together. I won't be going back to pay 9.50 for a country fried steak. Save your money for a restraunt that's ran with proper management.

Our experience was horrible. All our chicken tenders were over cooked but my mother's were burnt. We requested that she receive new one due to the fact that they were burnt. 15-20 minutes later she received another chicken strip that was worse than her first one. As a family we were sitting at a table in a room by ourselves discussing that we would not be back due to poor service and food. All of a sudden I hear the lady in the kitchen , who has been yelling the whole time we were there say " I don't care if they don't like it. The chicken strips are homemade its not my fault he cut them to thick. They just need to get out of her and go down the street to McDonald's. We told the waitress the second order of chicken strips were burnt and all she did was say sorry. We had to get up and get the waitress if we needed anything. The sad thing is that McDonald's chicken strips are better and so is their customer service.

We came through town one year ago and happened upon the Mason Jar Cafe. We are returning this weekend, and this restaurant is definitely on the list of places to eat while there! We had the brisket and the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and collard greens. Everything tasted homemade and delicious. Really good food. The Christmas tree and decorations, and mason jar candles on the tables, were all so charming. The owner stopped to talk to us and made us feel very welcome and the waitstaff was efficient and friendly. This is a great place, charming, cozy and really good comfort food.

The owner is an absolute disgrace to our small town. I witnessed our precious waitress get talk to worse than a dog! It is disgusting the owner would treat a human being with such disrespect. If he is having marital problems they need to stay and home NOT the work place. The quality of food was that similar to there vulgar mouth. If you are hungry ingles has TV dinners that are of better quality than the trashy restaurant. Close your doors if you can't handle the hours and business you have.

everything was wonderful except I would have a dill wedge with the Rueben not bread and butter pickles!

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BREAD PUDDING WE HAVE EVER HAD ! OMG. Love the ambiance & the menu is excellent. The only nice restaurant in Newland that I know of. Very quaint & Southern. We enjoyed our experience on the patio, but the dining room was sweet.

Out of 6 different dishes our party got, 3 were the best I’ve ever had. The owners are some of the nicest people ive ever met. We live in Raleigh but we’d eat here every day if we lived in the area. This place is amazing..GET THE BRISKET!!

Awful experience on Thursday, July 12th, 2018 for lunch and it's to expensive! I do not plan to return. I got a turkey, bacon, Swiss and it was burnt on the bottom on regular sliced bread from the store. I got a water with my sandwich and it costs me $10.51 plus tip. My friend ordered a club sandwich and it came with raw bacon on it. Then when she sent it back the server came back with it arguing it was precooked bacon. I'm sorry, it wasn't precooked or even cooked at all. We hear the cook tell server that it was cooked and she was like I believe you. My friend got a drink and her food costs over $14.00. This place is under new ownership and is called the seasons.

Maria and Gary run this place Gary is the cook Maria takes care of the front end and they both do an excellent job I highly recommend the Mason jar, the rest of the staff is awesome too. Good food fair prices

The food was delicious. I had the chicken salad with fruit plate and my hubbie had the Shepard's Pie. Both were fabulous!The service was good and the surroundings were cozy. Maria seems to love her customers and treats them like family.

Charming local cafe. Not Mason Jar (now Seasons NC) and no family drama either : service was top notch, very friendly and sweet. I'd have given it 5 stars had the bread for the sandwiches not been boring thin slice grocery style style, but it was fresh. Their pimento cheese was great (especially on the BLT!). Would go back for sure.

The food and the service were great. It was our first time at this restaurant and we were really impressed and will be going back!!

I have eaten there twice recently (March 2015) and both times had the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. OMG! It was so good. The steak crust was crunchy and the beans were well seasoned. I would put less of the white gravy on it next time. But, oh my it was great!

This place is phenomenal. The quality of food is amazing, the presentation is outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. The owner is a very kind lady that makes you feel like family the moment you walk in the door. Our server, Abby, provided excellent service and was knowledgeable concerning the menu. It is not common that my family goes to a restaurant that makes the positive impression that the Mason Jar Cafe made. My family will be driving from Jonesborough, TN to eat here often.

Terrible! The food was obviously frozen and not homemade. Me and my 6 year old granddaughter also did not appreciate the foul language that was thrown at our server. The owner repeatedly yelled and cursed at her for no reason. We used to come here a lot, but lately they have been extremely too rude to customers and staff, both. Will not be coming here again.

No longer called The Mason Jar. Under new ownership and new name. Now called Seasons NC and offering a menu of salads, sandwiches and a few other items. Overpriced for low quality food. Several items we wanted to order were unavailable. Service was not what was expected for the price we paid. You pay when food is ordered from the countertop, as opposed to being seated, so we went ahead and added our 20% tip to the bill. Our food was delivered to the table and then we were never checked on again. Very disappointing experience.

Great restaurant and staff. Marie was absolutely amazing. Entertained us with her wit and friendliness. Food was well prepared and not over seasoned or sweetened.

We have been there many times and normally it was fantastic but we got there last night and it was thirty minutes to closing. so we even asked if we was too late and the waitress went and asked and she said it was fine. The next thing I knew all we hear is screaming from the back and very rude remarks about how this is his last order and no more cooking our waitress seemed like she was in tears. Our food was jus thrown together and it was not worth what we paid. I understand if someone came in 5 min till closing but if your gonna own a restaurant you can not act that way you will run it into the ground.

Absolutely the worst experience. Went for Valentine's and was completely disappointed in the food and the service. Will never go there again. High priced, poor quality.

Amazing staff. Unbelievable food for a small kitchen. We called a few minutes ahead with a party of 17 (9 kids) and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Looking forward to our next visit.

I had breakfast and dinner catered by Maria at the Mason Jar for a three day family gathering!! Wow, what a hit - it was a #10! We had 25 in attendance and many said that the chicken salad and potato salad were the best they had ever had! Everything was absolutely delicious! They were the best meals of a three day weekend! Maria is a super chef!!!

Our party of 4 had a terrible meal here. Where to begin... The Atmosphere: No air conditioning, flies buzzing around the meal, sound of a dog barking, staff shouting at each other. The Food: ordered prime rib and they delivered steak without saying anything, vegetables were like mush, pie for dessert was very good. The Service: Absolutely the most dysfunctional restaurant I've ever seen. Basically it's people that might like to cook, but have a lot to learn about the restaurant business. Not recommended.

I have gone to the Mason Jar Cafe twice, both times with my family. Both times, I could not have been more pleased with the food, the service, or the atmosphere! If you are in the area, this is one place you should definitely try! I will be going back!

No longer the mason jar...now seasons. Would not recommend. Ham and Swiss sandwich that was completely bland with some fries and a drink was over $16. No lettuce no tomato, had to ask for mayo, the fries are extra charge. The others eating with me were also unimpressed by their choices. We will not be coming back.

The food was good but not a place to bring young children. The waitress was nice. But you can hear someone swearing.

Every time we eat at the Mason Jar we love it. So glad we have a place like this in our home town. Love the patio and the atmosphere is great! Very good food and friendly staff.

It is now called Seasons NC. New owners are working hard and make you feel welcome the moment you enter. The food was well prepared and promptly brought out. They are missing a few small things such as oil & vinegar dressing and horse radish sauce for the prim rib. Pretty sure they are in learning mode now and will have bugs worked out soon

Looks to be under new ownership and new name since my last visit. Menu had a variety of items on it and food was delivered quickly. It was not very busy while I was there.

The service and food was great. The portion of the lasagna was more than enough! The vegetable stir fry was mouthwatering. We will be sure to come back soon!
